Tagtastic

Does anyone know the status of LJ and flickr-style tags? I tried Googlin for it but I can't find anything, except for people on other websites agreeing that tags are an upcoming feature for Livejournal.

When tagging becomes available I will -- I kid you not -- embark on a project to go through all ~1,500 of my past LJ entries and lovingly hand-craft tags for each and every one. Without a doubt I will write something Perlish to assist with this endeavor. Tab completion and all that.

This sounds wanky but it really won't be... in fact, it will serve to de-wankerize four years of blogging by drawing all my posts together into named threads, making it more likely I will revisit yesterday's posts rather than just discarding them like used tissues.

Also, Tom Goes to the Mayor. Probably you'll hate it but I think it's one of the best things on TV right now.

Hmm, you can blog other peoples' photos as well. Nifty. I will have to stop myself from abusing this.

Note the RL katamari in the background, which attendees could actually stick things to.

Tag everything.

It strikes me that I like tags so much that i want to tag every file on my computers, and then just stop keeping them in separate directories. When I want to find files having to do with some thingy, I'd just browse that tag. And I'd have a separate tag browser application that also makes tag assignment easy.

Hmm. Hmm.

"Same with email" I almost say, except that I'm pretty sure I'd never go through the trouble to tag incoming mail. (There's a reason I have about 500 unread emails.) But now that I think of that more... I can see how that can be made viable, in a way.

Hmm.

(no subject)

My black socks from blacksocks.com came today. They're actuallly very comfortable. My $10 apparently included international shipping, and fast shipping at that.

If I still like them after wearing them for a whole day tomorrow, I'm totally down with getting a subscription to them.

This is seriously the most brilliant and and joyful business idea I've run into lately. Bravo.
