prog: (Volity)
Awake at 4 because I finished making a PowerPoint about Volity. No, I didn't have one before this; I was waiting for someone to invite me to make one first, and lo, we got that invitation earlier this week from one of our contacts. Now I have to find out what this person expects us to do with it.

This has been part of a week-long collision of a lot of stuff, work-wise. I sent out nearly 60 emails on Tuesday, bombing everyone in our friends-and-family list from last fall (modulo the people who ended up becoming seed investors). Wow, I did not know the list was so long.

After some immediate snarky responses, more interesting ones started to trickle back. Chief among these was a request for more information from VC group I did not know about before, but whose members are nonetheless familiar to me, and that's all I'll say about that for now. I'm pretty pleased that this is the first capital group to whom we were introduced by a third party, which is how you're supposed to do this sort of thing. Phone conference on Tuesday.

Then I went ahead and applied for jobs, which I may go into more detail about later. And today, we (which is to day Zarf) mailed out another quote for Volity game programming to a vendor we met at Origins, and I feel hopeful about it; this one really wants a digital version of his card game. We met him while he was in the midst of sending out requests for quotes, and dealt us in.

In other news, have to get out more. Really. Seven months into 2006 and I can see that, from two steps back, it's so far lot less interesting for me than last year. 2005 was an extraordinary year for jmac, with a grand variety of stuff in it, only some of which was Volity-related. 2006 has been entirely Volity.

I have the problem where I mistake my primary responsibility for the only thing I should be doing at any given time. There is definitely room for me to do some other stuff, and I have some ideas. (Of course, if I pick up a full-time job, this will become less true. Sigh.)

This crazy-violent fast storm that just blew over (and out of) Boston had positive lightning in it! I didn't know about the existence of this phenomenon until now.

I saw two strange, long-lived, brilliantly purple lightning bolts and asked weather-nerd [livejournal.com profile] kyroraz what they were, and he told me. "It's really bad stuff", he added. "Do not get hit by it."
