Up at 7:30 to attack the Boston RMV as soon as they opened. Unfortunately, but not surprisingly, my documentation didn't pass muster; stupid stupid website doesn't note what counts as proof of address, so I brought in three documents with my address on that I found lying around, and they didn't like any of them. (The Somerville parking office would have been fine with them. Pfui.) Was sent home with a paper list of what I need to gather. Zug zug. It'll have to wait unitl Friday.

I covered my disappointment by making a lame joke, and feel a little bad about it. I'm guessing "What is this, the RMV?" isn't the most heard line there but each clerk probably does get it at least once a day.

In preparation for getting a new license (my first since 2000) I got a haircut that wasn't very good. It doesn't look bad but it's suboptimal; overall mass was reduced significantly but the barber failed to eliminate the fluffiness, despite my specific instructions. She laughed when I asked; maybe she thought I was joking? And I don't think she used a #2 razor either, and I totally said "#2 razor on the sides". Feh.

I think I know exactly what to ask for next time. Even though they kind of hurt upon application, I'm going to ask for the thinning shears. It makes my abnormally thick hair feel sparse and silky for weeks, and also brings a nice spiky effect that I far prefer to the fluffiness. (Spiky and fluffy are basically the only two morphologies allowed to my hair.)

The old man who walks with a stoop at Dente's knows exactly how to do this. He wasn't there yesterday. Baw.
