OK, my phone officially stinks: I finally caught it in the act of shutting itself off for no clear reason. (I have often fished it from my pocket to discover it fast asleep, but this morning it took a nap, right before my eyes, when I picked it up. Grr!) (It's not for lack of battery charge.)

Any recommendations from y'all for a replacement? I am definitely looking for maximal features: web browsers, cameras, and other goodies, so long as they're actually usable, and the whole deal will still fit in my pants pocket. Mac OS X compatibility would be a bonus as well. (I dream of Address Book synchability, really.)

Orker has a T-Mobile Sidekick, which is pretty cute. If that has a picture-snapping variant, I might just get one of those...

[livejournal.com profile] fj works for Nokia and might know something about what cool stuff you can get. Alas, my phone is years old now, so I'm way out of touch.

Kyroraz will say...

Kyroraz will say "No! Not a Nokia! Nokia Sucks"

Keimel will say "Get a nokia, make my stock go up." :)

I would suggest, for novelty factor, get a phone that will work with bluetooth and you can have it speak to OSX. Popups on your screen to tell you who's calling, controlling of presentations, etc from your phone. Some of the bluetooth tricks are pretty neato and might be worth it.

Oh, and get 'polyphonic' ring tone ability. It might be called something slightly different, but get the one that allows you to use midi and/or wav files as your ring tones. You'll spend countless hours wasting time with a ring tone that way ;)

Good luck. Have fun.

Never ever ever buy Nokia! Nokia is the worst ever, the cheapest least common denomonator of cell phones! The next step up above a Nokia is to hook two tin cans together and connect them with string.

I have lived in Nokia hell for more than a year and wish I could go back in time to slap myself across the face many times with a very large dead herring and tell myself "Wake up, dumbass!" I can't believe I was socially engineered by a salesman that fateful day that I went "Duh! Nokia? Okay!"

And they have a history of including batteries that tend to explode.

Save yourself the headache and get yourself a Motorola. I've also enjoyed the LG VX4000 phone that I recently got. Very nice phone, durable, and superior quality.

But, this is my opinion.
