progI am parked maybe a mile from my house because I didn't want to do the business with the furniture/trashcans when I finally left my cozy little parking spot last night, to call on friends. Though I've lived in a dense, northern place for three years, I didn't hear of (or notice, apparently) this practice until this winter, and from all I've learned it's a game with ugly connotations, viz: it's acceptable practice, perhaps even an expected consequence, to vandalize cars that park in one's "marked" spot. Maybe this is a worst-case scenario seen only in neighborhoods worse than mine (not saying much, fortunately), but the association is still a bit much for my tastes.
Driving around some more tonight; maybe I'll have better luck. In the meantime, it's actually cold today, so the snow piles have hardened into car-sized crustmounds, and continue to take up every fourth parking space. Sigh.
