When did John Baldacci become Maine's governor?! He's already been in office long enough to start getting run over by his constituency. I knew nothing of this.

I think it was 2002...

From the article:

"Putnam's wife said she was told that Putnam passed a couple of vehicles and then ''noticed a car coming up behind him quite fast.'' Putnam pulled into the slow lane and the next thing he knew his car was spinning.

Not that any State Police officer in Maine would EVER speed unnecessarily. Nooooooo....

Nor any SUV of that size on a day when the roads might be icy.

swine copulators. sound like he was running late and got what "4x4 gods" who think they're invulnerable are bound to get.

He's a pig fucker in more ways than one. Last year, he and Georgia-Pacific made a deal to transport trash from all over the state to an existing papermill landfill in rural West Old Town. The landfill sits on an aquifer, requires that trucks too heavy for the interstate travel on local roads all the way to the site, has very loud trucks working on it at all hours already (even though it's not supposed to), and oh, btw, Maine's esteemed governor didn't actually bother to tell anyone near the dump or in the dozen towns on the way to it about the deal. One meeting over it got so heated that the cops were called. The Penobscot Nation is pissed too and are set to sue. He and Ahnuld ought to get it on; I'm sure they would find each other very compatible. Not that I'm mad or anything.
