A strange, fun, memorable weekend.

Saturday was Valentine's day. Will note here that my subconscious celebrated by giving me a surprisingly cruel dream, early that morning. I dreamt that I had a new neighbor, and after some time of getting to know her, decided that I had fallen in love with her. Before I could work out the particulars of how to best express this to her, I woke up... partially. Oh no... she was only a dream, I thought. Or was she? From there, I fell back asleep and dreamt that I remained awake to decide that she was real and I had been dreaming about how happy I was to know her, and how anxious I was to tell her how I felt. And then I woke up for real... pop. Ah! Very sweet and sad, very unusual for me!

Sunday through Monday was the movie marathon, of course.. Attended with daerr, kyroraz, and M. Everyone had a lot of fun, even though it failed to top last year's event for sheer quality. While it had a lot of high points, it had one or two very low points that people are going to remember this one for, alas.

Superbrief film wrapup to follow, if I finish writing it... (To alleviate suspense, I will name the labels of the two low points: "Demonlover", and the men's bathroom in the new venue. (I did say there were only one or two low points, depending upon who you were...))

[livejournal.com profile] kyroraz guessed it would have an IMDB rating of 1.3 or so. No, instead it has a weighted average of 5.4 out of 10. Sounds like Art.

I actually don't think it's a terrible movie, but it had absolutely no reason to be part of this festival, and was made terrible for it.

I haven't seen it, but I'm wondering how bad it could be with Chloe Sevigny and Gina Gershon. Well, hm, Gina Gershon was in Showgirls, wasn't she...

Anyway, Metacritic has many positive reviews, even a couple perfect scores. Now I want to see it! Doesn't sound much like SF, though.
