SciFi.com sez that Keanu Reeves will star in A Scanner Darkly. And it will be animated, a la Waking Life. This is the first PKD novel I read (IIRC it's his latter-career, "aw jesus, i kind of overdid it with the drugs, didn't i" confessional, before he let go completely with Valis and beyond), and if Keanu can be directed to show emotion, this might actually be good.

I actually think Keanu's usual vaguely confused will actually work just fine in this role.

Will be interesting to see how they present this story, because as read it's really not terriby science-fictional, more whacked out on drugs psychological.

Yeah, Keanu is Keanu. Haven't seen him move his range around much. Kind of like Jeff Goldblum. He's stuck as "uptight intelligent character" and can't seem to do anything else. Keanu as spacy half brain dead character... (even in Chain reaction where he's in the big science project, he's still only a machinist, a good one, but...)

Actors who've type-cast themselves, I suppose, due to their range or lack thereof.

I'm glad to be playing a part of "the evil/angry" side of characters for a change instead of cast as a 'good' character. Evil really gets a lot more fun. :)
