Hangups:
- One of the modules that Frivolity depends on (POE::Component::Jabber) radically changed its API in the last few months, and I had to spend many hours today accounting for this. OTOH, this module is clearly approaching stability while it shoots for a release of its own (it actually has a downloadable tarball now, rather than just a maze of CVS directories, which is rather a blessing), so I can't complain too much. I can complain about the nasty bug that its new changes introduced, and which poor Frivolity must hack its way around for the nonce. I'm too tired to write to its mailing list tonight, though.
- While I met all my original goals in writing the developers' guide, I realized that it was still only half-done; there are at least two more major concepts to cover, which didn't occur to me while drafting the first outline. This is the cause of neither surprise nor dismay; I put on my writer-face and make a samurai-affirmative grunt at this. I might just punt and finish these sections later, since what I've written so far is definitely enough to give my friends the documentation necessary to start creating their own game modules, which is absolutely my central goal with all of this.
To those who track such things: eights@volity.net and rps@volity.net are both currently operational, and using the new software. I'll post a more complete summary to the volity list when I have a change, and beat up the Wiki as appropriate.
So, yeah, was indoors all day. Specifically, in my bedroom, at my desk, useful once again thanks to Stilton. Set up stereo stuff there, and paid little attention to the passage of time. Amazed again at my house's non-heat-retention; I didn't notice it was a hot day until I was lured outside that evening by a friend's inviting me for ice cream and coffee. No air conditioner set up yet, one fan on, and only one window open. Pretty good.
Parents visiting tomorrow, through Monday.
