Are you familiar with Joel Garreau's 1980 book The Nine Nations of North America? There are differences between MassInc's map and Garreau's, most notably that Garreau distinguishes the eastern "Upper Coast" ("New England") from the western ("Ecotopia"), and combines "Southern Lowlands" and "Southern Comfort" into a single "nation" ("Dixie").
