progListening to the Katamari Damacy soundtrack at work, and find myself literally choking back tears at the theme song. There is a reason for this. All the songs in the game are quite upbeat, but the theme is the brightest of them all, and in the actual gameplay you hear it only during the long and arduous final level. It's striking me only now that this one of the most strangely touching things I have ever encountered in a video game. It's as if the game, recognizing how far you've gotten, wants you to win, and selects a soundtrack that doesn't emphasize tension and danger (as per typical "endboss" music) but instead suggests faith in your ability to succeed.
YES I am a weenie.
