An optimal spot to park your car before you expect it to get buried in snow is immediately beside an active driveway. The driveway's users will shovel or plow it clean, and therefore the only snow you must completely clear in order to move your car is that which lay between your car and the driveway. Furthermore, you can safely transfer snow into a pile on the opposite end of your car.
Thanks to y'all'ses advice I did in fact dig out my car yesterday, enough to empirically show that I could back it out if I so desired. But I did not, because I'd probably lose my precious odd-side parking spot and knew that the city was going to declare another snow emergency the next day, punishing all cars left on even sides. And lo, it is now getting buried again. Part of me wishes I hadn't have bothered, just to see how impressively high the show on its roof could have gotten.
