I have been, for several years, spending around $0.00 on new comics every month. This despite my oft-professed love for the medium.

I walk past one of the greatest comics stores on the ever-loving non-exploding planet several times a week. I also use the internets a lot.

So, to those who know me at all (or even think they do): recommendations?

I have no idea what you've read, but I'll recommend Finder, by Carla Speed MacNeil, anyway. Because I recommend it to everyone and it's awesome. Props to [livejournal.com profile] hissilliness for bringing it to my attention. :)

The only one I buy regularly is Usagi Yojimbo, about a rabbit samuri. It's nifty, not too edgy and a little historic.

If you haven't seen them yet, I thought both Persepolis and Persepolis 2 were worth the read. And the Flight anthology looks pretty good (Flight 2 is coming out soon, I think).

Man, everyone's reading my mind because those are my recommendations, too. A lot of these have been collected (and a few come out rather infrequently), so try an issue or two to see if you wanna splurge for them. My recommendations: Bone (which just completed its story line); Finder (the title should appeal to a fellow Machead like you!); Usagi Yojimbo; Persepolis; Blankets; Fables; Promethea; True Story, Swear to God (nice true roamnce); Liberty Meadows; Astro City; American Splendor; Palooka Ville; PvP; Ex Machina; Supernatural Law; Angry Youth Comix; Age of Bronze ...

Oh, uh, obviously I don't know you, so I'm just telling you what *I* really like. I came across your name when you posted a message to one of the other folks I read regularly.

Hmm... other than saying "everything on the readme shelf", I'm not sure what else (or what specifically) to recommend. Perhaps we should discuss it in person. :)
