Some notes on Maine entities getting bad and then better, before I head back south:
* My dad is more or less fully healed. I was reminded about his surgery every time I used the bathroom and gazed upon the jungle-gymery installed to help him pull himself off the facilities, but in person he's doing just great. He doen't need a walker or even a cane anymore, but he does make a use of a grippy-pole thing to pick stuff up off the floor.
* In the space of a couple of days, one of the MINT family was diagnosed with an enormous brain tumor, had an operation, and was then able to himself write the concluding post of the email thread that
jtroutman was sending about his status. That was something else. He sez he will start an LJ about his recovery; I look forward to seeing it.
* Shadow the cat now insists on having two litterboxes, one for each number. This is, my mother sez, the end result of a long story that started with her getting an infection that made her bathroom functions painful, and led to her experimenting with different locations. She's all better now, but has apparently concluded that doing both in the same place leads to pain; if given only one litterbox, she'll poop in the tub or something.
Righto, off I go.

Date: 2005-03-20 08:06 pm (UTC)2) actually, given the recent brain developments in my own family, i would be quite interested/inspired/invested in the tale of someone else's recovery.
3) gus the cat started out crapping in the tub when he was a wee gus. i have to say, in a lifetime of being a cat owner and picking up shit in various and sundry locations, it's VERY easy to clean out the tub, whereas things like shoes, or bed sheets are just easier to throw away. i am glad shadow's problems seem to be working out, and the humans in her life are accomodating to her needs.
