I'm sure that this is a flameout meme that has already lived its whole life in the PC gamer sphere, but
jjohn just turned me on to it: The Ballad of Leeroy Jenkins. (Streaming WMV)
Aside of the obvious funny, this gets a big "Wow, they can do that?" from me. I continuously have no idea what the most modern computer games look like.

Date: 2005-06-11 03:16 pm (UTC)In a sense it's real as in everything was done in-game. I've never seen it but with some systems you can set up a special voice-communication channel. Either City of Heros (the only MMORPG my roommate plays) doesn't have it or he doesn't have things set up to use it.
The only sad part is that this event was apparently scripted and staged -- although it's clearly inspired by real in-game experiences.
