I got my first-ever summons for jury duty recently. I have friends much younger than me who've been hit up multiple times. I don't know what took them so long to pull my name. Just luck?

Relieved to see that it's way the hell off in August. *dismissive wave*

I think jury duty is in fact purely random. Also, it's based on where you are, and I expect rural Maine has less need of juries than Somerville.

I thought of that... it's surely a factor, though it's also got a much smaller population to select jurors from, and I coulda sworn that a lot of my colleagues up north got tapped fairly regularly too.

I was called for jury duty the first year I was elligable. On the other hand, neither of my parents have ever been called.
