Ew, gross, my neighbors at the Deisel are playing Monopoly. I am probably feeling something faintly akin to what my kid-lit-crit pals feel when people gush over Harry Potter. Here's a quarter, kid; go buy yourself a real board game.

They look like they might be a would-be couple getting to know each other, too. Oh no, they're doing it all wrong. This is what Kosmos's Games for Two line is for, you knuckleheads. Ah, I cannot watch. O the calamity.

I am going to start an LJ community called monopolyfree just so I can make indignant posts every time I see people with the gall to bring their Monopoly sets out in public where I have to listen to their dice rattling. I will call these people monopomoos.

I will show them. I will show them all.

You don't need to read FoF all the time, you know... :)

My secret shame is that I actually like Monopoly. *ducks*

I'd rather see them playing Monopoly than some of the alternatives. I don't think it's a bad game at its core; I think it could benefit from a lot of refactoring, though.

I never cared for Monopoly... I think the only strategy for it I've seen is to 'buy everything you can when you land on it'.

If they want a real board game they should try 'Diplomacy'... or 'Go'.

Excuse me? Geeze, I leave the country for an indefinite period of time and suddenly you're hitting up strangers in strange hotels? And on the American Monopoly board, no less?

Gah.

I'm disappointed that you didn't structurally analyze his behavior, just so you could be a pomomonopomoo.

Last night at True Grounds ([livejournal.com profile] soozdotcom's game night) people were playing Sorry and Cranium. (And Zendo, and Transamerica.)

And a 5-player Scrabble game. Five players! Gah!
