Mailed out the first wave of seed-funding begz0r letters last weekend, and quickly found some interest, which is good. It took me several weeks to become totally convinced that the step was necessary, which overlapped with the weeks I spent rewriting the letter.

At our business meeting last night [livejournal.com profile] jtroutman cautioned us to create a budget for the next few months before actually accepting a dollar, so that we don't take too little or too much -- either is bad, for different reasons. This led into a conversation about relocating the other two guys to Boston and finding a common work space for the three of us, since we're supposed to be an insane startup right now, and instead we're still treating it more like a normal full-time job that we all telecommute into or something. JLT is all about taking care of this now, and we are presently mulling over our options. The whole gang will likely converge around my house this Saturday to mass-ponder in person.

I've called my parents in the interim, and my mom suggested an interesting idea: make a work area by gutting my living and dining rooms, declaring them to be office space, and furnishing them appropriately. Not only would this save us on office rent (and the hassle of finding a short-or-no-lease space), but it would make a nice little personal tax break for me. (Giving me more money to pour relentlessly into this foolish venture, to be sure.) It still leaves the other two to find personal space elsewhere, but it's not hard to find subletting like that, I don't think...

Believe me, I am giving plenty of thought to the stress side. I haven't had a roommate since 1995. And inter-programmer friction can be plenty devastating when the subject is indentation style. Throwing in the question of who left the shower drain in that disgusting state is asking for trouble.
