Series of dots on a piece of paper and each person takes turn adding lines (one at a time) to connect the dots in which to make boxes? Completing a box, you put your initial in it and score a point or some such? If that's what you're talking about, let me know, I'll come back and put my initial in the box for 'I've played it'
Insert standard eyebrow-arched snottery about using Google or Wikipedia here, but I like you, human, so: yes, that one. (Also I wanted to go back and edit the poll text with a link to the WP article but it was non-obvious how to do this so fooey.)
you and your google snobbery.... pffft... pen and paper game, you get close to pen and paper answer. I'll look it up in the googlepedia on my shelf. Oh wait... there isn't one ;)
i played this religiously back in the day. it's called lines and boxes where i am from, in high school. whenever class was boring (which was often), me and my then best friend would play this game on the sheet where we were supposed to be taking notes. i probably still have a couple of games from '89.
the variation is dots in a pyramid shape, and then to make triangles out of them.
When I played in high school, we called it Dots. We also expanded it into three dimensions, which gave much more to look for without really changing the game mechanics.
Changed my answer from "Never heard of" to "Played" after reading the comments. Haven't played since - I think - high school, when it was a great way to slack off during group work sessions in various classes.
