The president is injecting anti-scientific commissars into NASA with the goal of promoting Intelligent Design by denying, in NASA publications, the factuality of the Big Bang.
Going to Mars... my ass. His guys probably think we haven't gotten beyond the Moon yet because the crystal spheres have gotten in the way.
Also the commissar in question, one Mr. George Deutsch, has been busily denying NASA scientists the opportunity to speak about global warming. I just heard Dr. Jim Hansen on WBUR's On-Point talking about both climate change and the fact that he was willingly putting his job in danger by ignoring this request from his administrative superiors by consenting to an interview anyway.

This web page has a brief description of the full article but it also
provides some links to background info
http://www.sciencenews.org/articles/20060128/note14ref.asp
The full article talks more about this -- my favorite line is from Lexi Shultz of the Union of Concerned Scientists in Washington DC.
"It's somewhat outrageous that this wasn't already illegal"
It's also outrageous that this law remains in effect for only one year and is limited to three agencies.
