The next-to-last first-season Doctor Who was so good that we went ahead and watched the last episode via my scientific compu-brain. I was pleased that the identity of the endboss (as revealed at the end of the next-to-last ep) was a complete surprise to me. Despite all the little spoilers about the first couple of seasons that have trickled my way over the last year, I didn't see that coming. Well done.

I saw the next to last ep last night of Doc Who and was impressed. I have to say that the more I see of the this latest incarnation of the series, the more I like. By God, it seems like they actually had *fun* making the series! Also, I don't recall there being much of a thread running through any one series of Doctor Who (which the exception of the Key to Time), so I was fascinated to learn about this Bad Wolf thing. I may have to shell out cash for the DVD.

I really like that they reused a lot of the orginal sound effects and reworked the original title music. Goody!

Also, thanks to CGI, the Doctors most infamous foe *finally* overcomes a glaring design flaw.

Pedants point out that the design flaw was overcome, no doubt using crappy video compositing, in an episode many years ago.

Must have missed that one. I stopped watching Doctor Who after Peter Davison.

Don't forget the whole "Trial of a Time Lord" thread that ran through the sixth Doctor's (Colin Baker's) series. The horrible, horrible sixth doctor.

Also, why does Sci-Fi keep calling this the "First Series" of Doctor Who? It's the eighth series, if by "series" you mean a particular actor's run as the Doctor. It's way more than eight if by "series" you mean "season", since most actors played the Doctor over multiple seasons. By what definition can this possibly be called the "first"?

"First Post-Irony Series" looks sloppy on a DVD box set cover.
