I just grabbed some MP3s from a cool band I helped film for the Rock Candy Show last night. They play in iTunes just fine, but I can't drag them onto my iPod; the iPod icon within iTunes simply and silently refuses to act as a drop target with these tracks, and these tracks alone.

Wha? Is this some kinda wacko DRM I haven't encountered before?

You probably already thought of this but ... anything weird come up when you do a Get Info in iTunes and check out what kind of an audio file it is? Or any weirdness come up if you try to convert to AAC or burn to a CD?

That was it, apparently. Even though they have the file extension "mp3", they appeared to be Quicktime files, so iTunes would gladly unpack play them but not copy them to my iPod.

Converting them is a pain... for each file, QT Player->export to AIFF->LAME to MP3. And that makes all their metadata go away. Fooey!

Thanks, though.
