Better living through hypochondria

OK, I accidentally read some Wikipedia articles and now I'm terrified. They had pictures and everything it was horrible. I really want to set up an appointment ASAP with someone for a checkup. I've got credit.

Any local recommendations? I literally have no doctor or plan or nuthin. I'm a free agent.

Hmm, a nice little project I can do today is look into buying health insurance for myself, too. I quite honestly have no idea about any of this stuff.

Edit [livejournal.com profile] leahleaf and [livejournal.com profile] jadelennox slid some URLs at me, and I contacted these folks. I hope to get myself nice n set up by Jan 1. I feel better already.

Would it make you feel better if my hypocondriac story came out with a happy ending?

found a Bump on scalp
its slowly getting bigger
just sebacious cyst

Wasn't planning for a haiku when I started, but what the hell...

Found the lump and got nervous. Doctor's confirmed it's nothing to worry about. Outpatient treatment in the office will take care of it when I want to.

So, it was not, in fact, a too-muh.

Hope you feel better.

I had a scary bump once too and yes, they're much scarier.

My current situation is really more laughable. "This article says that an early sign of stomach cancer is loss of appetite. OH NO I HAVE THAT! SORT OF! AAAGH! (And it couldn't possibly have anything to do with recovering from my super-violent one-off illness from last week.)"

But it is whipping me into setting up some health care for myself, so hey.

I looked at that and it seemed like an interesting program. They say 'affordable health care' but the last time someone used that line on me their idea of 'affordable' was higher than my rent.

Actually, the place I work for has recently offered a volentary new health insurance plan -- something I haven't quite classified as junk-mail yet.

The program I linked to is specific to MA, but maybe they have activity elsewhere in the country.

I phoned em, and they just collected some contact info and said they'd email me. I don't know how much anything costs yet. I can almost guarantee you it won't be more than my rent, though, ha ha barf.

Last time I checked, the Davis Square Family Doctor's group thingy had openings. My doctor is there.
