As a pedestrian, I've lately started flipping off traffic a lot. I even flip off drivers that aren't interacting with me, but being rude to other motorists. I hypothesize that I am more comfortable about this the closer I am to my home neighborhood.

I enjoy it a great deal, though it doesn't make me any less angry, for that brief period after an incident when I am teeth-grindingly ragey.

While I know that my exclamations are highly unlikely to actually be heard by other drivers, I've found that it feels weirdly cathartic to be aggressively cheerful/sarcastic when I yell.

Someone in front of me is riding right up against the line of my lane: "Please stay in your lane! Thank you!"

Someone honks angrily (is there any other way to honk?): "Love you too!"

Someone changes lanes w/o signaling: "Thanks for signaling!"

Friendly honks

A short beep-beep is usually not unfriendly. Shave-and-a-haircut is probably at the extreme end of the friendly-honk continuum.

Heh.

On that subject, is it possible to have an unfriendly honk when your horn plays the first few bars of "Dixieland" or "La Cucaracha"?

Hmm, but are those carhorn replacements or separately installed noisemakers? I don't know but the latter wouldn't surprise me.
