More Wii games

More Wii-playable Videlectrix games are up. I just got 504 points at Trogdor.

I feel silly being so excited about using the interwebs via Wii; it's like being thrilled about WebTV 10 years ago. But damn, it's running Opera and full-on AJAX applications like Gmail work perfectly. That's cool, man. Even if I can barely read any of the text on my 1950s-tech-level CRT.

How does Google Maps do?

I just tried it; it works great.

Alas, if only the Wii supported higher resolutions than 480p.

So it looks just as chonky on HDTV?

I couldn't tell you from personal experience (still Wii-less here), but I can't imagine it would look significantly better.

I mean, a bigger screen might help some... but it's still going to be limited by the resolution.

I bet the 8-bit graphics of Videlectrix look just right on that combination of hardware and software...

They look great on a television. The optimal controls would be a skanky one-button joystick plugged into an enormous chunky C=64, and not a gleaming, futuristic Wiimote, but you can't have everything.

What does it seem like one has to do to make a Flash game Wii-ready?

I haven't looked into it beyond playing the games and making educated guesses. Many of the games just treat the Wii remote as a mouse, and indeed you can play the games with a mouse on your PC and they work the same.

The Trogdor game involves using the D-pad, and I assume that the Wii browser's D-pad just maps to PC cursor keys, so that's that.

IOW I don't think these games are doing anything special, other than being screen-formatted so that they're the perfect size for the Wii browser, and having Wii-specific on-screen instructions.
