Your implication that it's hypocrisy to support a policy without direct, personal activity in that policy is false. You know this to be true, but it's an easy paper target, so you keep whanging away at it in order to look like a good little activist.

You are only hurting the cause. If you have the teeth for it, go find something real to attack. Goddamn but there's a lot of it out there.

Insisting that somebody go enlist in the army if they support a war is invalid. But the major targets of this rhetoric tend to be people who spent the past four to six years attacking war opponents as cowards and pumping themselves up as manly men for supporting the war from the safety of their keyboards, and are now whinging about the American people's loss of Iron Will in the face of thousands of their countrymen coming back dead or maimed. I think the "chickenhawk" attack applied to these people is perfectly fair.

Not to mention the high levels of correlation between "This war is good!" and "I weaseled out of serving in Vietnam."

Also, class issues. There is a disconnect in these peoples' brains between "my kind of people" and "the kind of people who pay the cost for this".

I'm not sure what issue you're responding to here, but there is something a little unseemly about being "willing to fight to the last drop of someone else's blood."

And folks who get all shook up about environmental causes while living lives that have a carbon footprint ten times bigger than the rest of us are on somewhat shaky ground as well.

And a warm welcome to Operation Yellow Elephant, a non-partisan grass roots citizens initiative to Support Our President by encouraging his strongest 41-or-under supporters, the College and Young Republicans, if healthy and heterosexual, to volunteer for military service.

Um, yes, this would be exactly what I was criticizing, actually.
