Excerpt from my own personal Craigslist post of the day, for a local company's "web czar":

* Flexible work hours (20-40 hours/week)

* $20-25/hour as an independent contractor (1099 with no benefits)

* Must *NOT* have other work commitments or be unavailable during the daytime

"You can work for peanuts only part-time if you want, but you must spend all other hours at home staring resolutely at your phone in case we call you for some reason." OK!

I applaud dice.com for making it easy to toggle whether your résumé can show up in searches or not. This is a job seeker-friendly feature. I have just hid mine; things are sufficiently interesting to make the background din from recruiters (seriously, every day with the calling) more a distraction than not.

I have one, perhaps two bid-creation exercises in my future. Whoah.

Several times a year I lean completely into something, to the detriment (or anyway the languishing) of all else. Volity and Gameshelf will continue to sit simmering in the back until I can wrench some resolution from this pursuit, one which (unlike Volity and the Gameshelf) I feel completely valid in running down, coz a man's got to eat, right?

Recruiters have been calling me almost non-stop since I put my resume out last Sunday. They're really almost on the annoying level but I guess it gives me a small sense that I'm valuable or something.

It doesn't hurt to talk to recruiters, especially if you really are looking for a permanent job and not not butterfly work like me.

Having them spoon understaffed companies at you based only on buzzword compatibility does not replace you yourself seeking out places you'd like to work, though. You're a lot more likely to find a good match that latter way.

Wow, just wow. How desperate would someone have to be to answer that ad?
