I really liked it, though there was a couple of confusing bits.

I really enjoyed the very deliberate setup of Pegasus' story after the attack as basically being Galactica's, if there had been no President Roslyn on board to convince the commander that the war was lost and now is the time for running away. The closest that Cain had was a sweet geeky girlfriend, who turned out to be an enemy spy that was trying to destroy the ship. Also not actually human. Yes, that'll mess anyone up. (No, I'm not suggesting that justified anything she did. I just enjoy horrible fuckeduppery like this in epic storylines.)

I wondered, though, about the purpose of the scene where Cain conferences with the officers, assuring them that she's not really hell-bent on revenge, moments before commencing the hell-bent revenging. It allowed Officer McHeadwound to call her on something, but at the cost of making Cain look self-contradictory instead of merely stone cold.

Baltar looked digitally inserted, the one scene where he was lurking in the background for no real reason. I want to hear the commentary track now. (There's already a podcast about the movie out, but it's a recording of a writers' meeting.)

Trufen (or people who watched the miniseries+first two seasons in one swig like I did) will know that this was actually not the first appearance of old-skool cylons in the new show, but this was the first time we saw em walkin and talkin. What a treat. I would have forgiven them twice over if they chose to give em pew pew laser rifles. They just didn't look right firing machine guns.

Zarf suggested that the Quiznos slogan be pronounced "Mmm, toaster."

Yes, it was a good episode; 2 hours long, how cool is that?

It sucks that Baltar didn't even say anything. It was a sweet sight to see 6 in her white coat again; Cylons are pretty snappy dressers for a race of Cylons that want to kill all humans.

I was surprised to hear them speak in their robotic voices once again; I actually forgot that they originally fired lasers instead of bullets; I guess the FCC/censors didn't care about the bullets this time.

How much is an episode from iTunes anyways? Is the quality good?

The Cylons want to replace humans and do everything they do better! Including dress better, I guess.

Lasers would have introduced a story-consistency problem, namely why anyone's using bullets now if they had energy weapons 40 years ago. I'm just saying I would have forgiven them if they handed the old Cylons laser guns and then explained it away with a handwavy "Yes but they were inefficient and both sides stopped using them" line.

I haven't looked at iTunes. I assume that it isn't available at all, since Apple and NBC (who helps produce BSG) had a falling out earlier this year.

I have to somewhere get all the episodes and watch them in order. It's confusing enough, I think, to just watch a few, then miss a few. But I saw pieces of, I think, what you are talking about, which seemed completely disjointed.

Like Lost, this is a show you can't be casual about watching. You either need Tivo or buy all the DVDs and such.

I've loved what I've seen, but the story is just so lost to me now (like Lost) that I don't really watch anymore.

It's less true with BSG than with Lost - even if you don't know what's going on you can at least enjoy all the space battles, where the sides are pretty clearly drawn. But yeah.

This is my favorite show, better written than anything else currently on the air. I recommend doing exactly what I did - suck down a torrent of the whole meatball, and if you like it, get the discs.

I finally got around to watching this. The best part was when Starbuck says (a slight variant of) "I love it when a plan comes together", which was Hannibal's catchphrase on the A-Team, which also starred Dirk Benedict, the original Starbuck.
