I just pulled up the snopes.com article about Barack Obama to quote at my mom over the phone, after she said said that she was worried "not so much about the black as the fact that he went to school at one of those, er, uh, what-you-calls." Sheesh. (She was thinking of "madrassa".)

It's a little sad that Snopes' primary focus seems to have gone from a cool online urban legend reference to a reliable source for quickly refuting the latest batch of screeching wingnut email forwards. But, I'm glad someone's doing it.

The tactic mentioned there of simply lying about something being confirmed on Snopes is interesting. It shows they've hit the big time, I guess.

She said "Well, that makes me feel better."

My parents are sure that BHO will be the next POTUS. Mom says that she just can't get excited about McCain, and agrees that if Obama gets the nom he'll crush him in the general election.
