Let's see:

  • Yellow flags:
    • Company name written in lowercase
    • Entire job spec contained within ad
  • Red flags:
    • Email address a GMail address, even though this is supposedly a paper company
    • Googling this company's name returns no relevant hits
    • Mention of "bids"
    • "We'll pay you via PayPal"

Edit: Looks like j.p.o shot it down already, which is the first time I've seen em apparently yank a dumb ad. (Not that they get a lot of dumb ads, them not exactly being Craig's List.) Nice going! Too bad I didn't get a screenshot, though...

Ha ha! That lasted about ten minutes. Good going on the j.p.o watchdogs.

Too bad I shut my window before I could take a screenshot!

Yup! It took me a minute, despite the enormous quantity of season 1 [livejournal.com profile] spooky_thing and I watched this weekend. But then it made me very happy.

"paper company" makes me think of the Office instead of Heroes.

But The Office is about a company that actually thinks it's selling paper, as opposed to a shadowy organization bent on controlling the world's population of superheroes and also hoping to save a few bucks on software costs by trolling Perl job boards.

Have you ever called up places with job ads like this just to see what these people's real racket is?

I actually think that these folks have posted an ad on this job site before, and I may have even been desperate enough at the time to respond to it. They didn't write me back.

(I did not go ahead and do the work and then mail them a script saying "Here look I already did it for you! That'll be $50 plz!", which is what they're hoping for, I'll wager.)

Wait -- they wrote the full specs of what they needed written in the job ad? Is that what you meant by your second 'yellow flag'? I'm not even in the field and that sounds strange and wrong to me.
