I just got a sweet deal on DDR Universe for XBox 360, snagging it for only $10. But after much googlin, I conclude that there's no hope of getting my awesome old PS2 pads to work on the 360. Boo.

The deee-luxe pads cost me $200 five years ago. I don't want to buy new ones. This is poopy.

(Yes, the 360 has USB ports, and I have PS2 → USB adapters. This does not appear to matter. The 360's sense of controllers is so proprietary that there's apparently no easy way to get it to recognize first-gen XBox controllers!)

Oh seriously, there's no PS2->360 adapters yet? Weak sauce! Surely someone's reverse-engineered a cheapo 360 dance mat... it's just a serial interface! I have a bigass metal dance mat that I wanted to use too.

Yeah dude, I bought the disc under the assumption that surely this thing must exist. I mean, I know they do for Wii.

I welcome evidence that I'm overlooking something, but I've so far only turned up forum posts (mostly in Guitar Hero fan-land) suggesting that it just can't be done.

Can't be done? A guy I used to work with modified a standard PS2 Guitar Hero controller to be wireless... converting a serial interface to a 360 controller strikes me as SLIGHTLY less complicated.

The XFPS 360 can do it but it's $70. Ouch. Looks like a pass-thru device so they can get past the bullshit device encryption... I think the 360 is like the PS3 in that you can only attach "approved" devices.

Yep, that beast is the only reputable solution I found. If it featured two PS2 ports I'd probably spring for it! But as it is, it's practically the cost of a new good dance pad.
