Google's launched a 3d social chatty thingy. The avatars in the trailer movie all appear to be either Bratz-esque homunculettes or chubby little squirrelly critters, which tells me that Google is narrowly targeting the service towards the dual core virtual-world markets of
- Image-conscious youths, primarily teenage girls and young women, eager to spend real money on virtual goods with designer names, and
- Furries.

Date: 2008-07-09 03:25 pm (UTC)The next time I feel like sinking some time into a real marketing push, there's a lot of readily exploitable online turf waiting for it. (Though I will probably favor places more friendly to passive marketing than SL, since it's not like I can pay someone to hang out there all day.)
