lol "ooh help help their bein mean to me" r u gonna say that to the terists too? Is that ur forin policy plan? ya ur rite we'll get rite on that. lol <_<;
That's a pretty good speech, actually. Biden's comments were on point. The GOP is using the Chewbacca defense: all style and no substance. Still, it's been a long time since an election was decided on real issues.
At least the Dems are running a charismatic candidate this time (TOO charismatic, according to the GOPies) who seems capable of articulating policy positions that are parsable by people without graduate degrees.
Primate social structures are determined by who is able to maintain the attention of the troop. This was realized in the '60's by people study chimp societies, who realized that the alpha chimp wasn't the biggest or strongest or best fighter, but the one most able to get the rest of the chimps to pay attention to him. Only once that failed did the alpha chimp get replaced, even though younger, stronger chimps could have beat them up much earlier.
For human politics, this means that charisma is hugely important, because it is easy for them to get people to pay attention. So I think the Dems have a good chance of getting their policies heard, because Obama is obviously charismatic and as this clip shows, Biden is a very capable and engaging speaker.
The GOPpy political theatre worked well against Gore and Kerry because they were both hard people to watch--Gore smarmy and smug, Kerry stiff and boring. Bush, for all his faults, was handed those elections on a platter, particularly as he was surrounded by Rovian noise-makers that drew the eye to his vicinity while never letting you get a very good view of the man himself, which for monkeys is a pretty attention-grabbing move.
