The fire alarm is going off, or the light-flashy part of it is, anyway. It's otherwise totally silent.
Peering down the hallway I see that this phenomenon is repeated across this floor. I also see that everyone is ignoring it.

"Oh, what is that? The fire alarm!!" says Carol. "Yes, but everyone is ignoring it," I say, from my chair. Whatever. Back to the music.

Hum. Now I hear approaching fire engines. Which just stopped outside. Huh? Should we leave?

This is the dumbest fire alarm ever.
