I just discovered (after wondering "Gee I wonder if...") that you can add multiple cities to the Weather app that ships with the iPhone, and flick between them at will with the usual touch gestures. This suddenly transforms it from a cute and marginally useful gewgaw into a slick little travel-planning aid. Nifty.

Don't forget to check out some of the other weather apps. None are as elegant as Apple's but they have a lot more info. WeatherBug is a popular one, and now The Weather Channel and AccuWeather both have iPhone apps as well.

I tried one of the early free alternatives (I think Weatherbug) and I was astonished at how terrible it was. It was slower, it pushed the information I cared about into some bottom corner (or maybe I had to scroll down to find it), and there was a big graphical map in the middle that loaded late and was meaningless.

I think they improved it, later. But the default Apple weather tool is tightly focussed on what I give a crap about. I use it.
