I saw the Diesel's new signs for the first time today. The Fair Trade price increase for the basic coffee drinks is barely perceptible; large coffee costs a thin dime more than it used to. And it's still tasty stuff!

A far more dramatic change is the menu's look. It's still modeled after a giant-sized magnetic poetry set, but they've dropped the dirty-typewriter font for a clean, bold sans-serif face. It reminded me of nothing so much as Apple's recent font switch from their Garamondy thing of the 20-year legacy to the whateveritis they're using now. Not that I'm one to really get fussy about any of this stuff, mind.

You know, a week ago, I saw a few of the Diesel workers at the back counter, brewing coffee, sipping it, and saying things like, "This is six? We might want to try five," with boxes and boxes of Equal Exchange coffee behind them. I did wonder if they were changing something.

I haven't been back--too busy with other things, planning to go and write on Friday. Interesting.
