I just paid three dollahs even for a eggs & chorizo burrito and a coffee at the new Boloco, and now I am leeching off their wireless. That's a pretty good deal.

The burritos here are kind of anemic compared to the big fat burritos that my neighbor Tacos Lupita makes, but they're tasty. The coffee is tolerable. It's a nice cheap protein boost though, on a morning when I was expecting to laden myself down with a Diesel bagel.

(I'd post this in [livejournal.com profile] davis_square but honestly I'd feel self-conscious about writing more posts about buildings and food there. Not that I don't enjoy the ones that others write. Anyway.)

Ahoy mateys. I am planning some practice plays of near-future Gameshelf games at my house this month. If you have volunteered to play on Wednesday, please consider coming, especially if you haven't played the game before or are otherwise rusty on the rules. The goal here is to let the games we actually film look better, with less rules balking and flubbing.

You can also come if you don't wanna be on TV but just want to play. I'd appreciate an RSVP in either case.

Contact me if you need directions.

Sunday, March 4, 7pm: Acquire. I haven't played the game before and want to get a feel for how long the game takes and how many players we should have on-camera. I'll probably wait until this time to make a final decision on who the March 7 talent is.

Sunday, March 18, 7pm: M.U.L.E. I'll finagle some solution ahead of time to let people sit around my Mac comfortably and play.

(Aside: I need more ladies for this episode. So far all i gots is doodz.)

The Oil Drum posted a nice survey-level summary of nuclear power from the standpoint of energy sustainability.
Technically, there appear to be no show stoppers for a considerable expansion of Nuclear Power throughout the world. It is a low carbon energy source with abundant fuel supplies. The technology works and has much potential for improvement. Whether or not a large scale expansion eventuates depends on how it competes with Coal on economic grounds and with the public on political grounds. This in turn will be determined by the performance of the nuclear industry over the next few years as these purportedly cheaper and safer plants are built.

I think it is worth showing the final graph from M. King Hubberts' seminal paper "Nuclear Energy and the Fossil Fuels".

(Answer to subject line: Atomic ache. This is one of the first jokes I ever learned. It was from a book. I told it in a stand-up routine in a first-grade talent show.)
