It occurs to me that practically nobody uses the expression "World Wide Web", or the abbreviation "WWW", anymore. The Web is "the Web" -- capitalization optional, really -- even on first reference in a written piece. Writing it out in full looks strange, to me, and outdated.

It is kind of interesting how the 'www' subdomain remains ubiquitous even while 'WWW' has become archaic in print. (If that even makes sense for a ten-year-old expression. Neoarchaic?)

I wish the 'www' subdomain tradition just went away, really. Some MIT tech-drones I know will give you a lecture at the drop of a hat how websites should use 'web' instead of 'www', and they are destined for a bitter existence indeed, I fear.
