According to Flickr, kids around the world went to their proms dressed in duct tape. (Link will be stale after a few days. I don't know how to prevent this.)

Oh yeah, the "zendonut" photos on that page are of me and I think keimel fighting with duct tape-encrusted swords sometime in 2000.

OK, how could I not comment on these:

The duct tape wallet: I recognized the UC Berkeley ID just from the thumbs--I have one just like it (the ID, not the wallet).

Folsom St. Fair: ditto from the thumbs--what else would it likely be? 'Kay, it wasn't--I've never been to that particular one, Up Your Alley Fair on Dore Alley, also in SF and in July. I didn't see the guy's taped appendage until after I loaded the full image. And then I didn't see that his arms were taped to his sides until really close inspection. Gah! I just hope there's some type of lining underneath the tape, or else double gah when he has to remove it all.

In fact, kids around the world went to prom dressed in duct tape because Henkel, who make Duck Tape brand duct tape, offered a $5000 college scholarship for the best outfits. (There's a nice photo at the New York Times, though Googling for the winners' names will turn up a few other copies of it.
