Another reason to keep cable television is if you have any interest in live events you can only get on cable. And really wouldn't want to watch when the chopped up DVD finally comes out, and would be annoying to get on torrent-added time delay.

For me, the interest is in the World Cup here which is split across the ESPNses and the other ABC stations. (I need to make sure I'm pre-approved for a flexible schedule next June...hmm.)
Boxing fans are almost required to have cable/satellite if you want to follow it at all.
Not really a reason to justify the expense if you aren't addicted to a cable-only sport however, but a situation that I don't see DVDs or bittorrent being able to fill adequately.
