HIGHLY recommend using something like VMWare to test cross-platform stuff. It has the distinct advantage that you can easily revert to a fresh install of Windows/Linux any time you like and test upgrades and uninstalls on known configurations.
Plus running Linux in a window under Windows (and vice-versa) is mind-bogglingly cool.
