"Go see a movie"

OK, so what do you think I should see? In-theaters, rentable, thepiratebaydotcommable, whichever. Released last weekend or 90 years ago.
I agree that I should see Stardust, but I'm seeing that Friday, so something else.
I don't have any TV. (And my GF's TV is broken, right after I tivoed like 999 things on TCM, which is a damn shame.)
Even though I had a great game night last night and I have a fine book to read I'm going stir crazy. I need some fresh, colorful input of the sit-down-and-submerge variety.

Date: 2007-08-16 12:55 am (UTC)I saw The Baxter on cable last week. Rather more sedate than "Stella" (same guys are in it) but still pretty amusing.

Date: 2007-08-16 02:12 am (UTC)I really enjoyed Live Free or Die Hard when I saw it earlier this year. It's a fun summer actioner and it actually holds its own as a movie (and not just an action-fest) much more than I expected (certainly better than the other two Die Hard sequels did).
The next two movies I'm likely to see in some order are Stardust and The Bourne Ultimatum. I've heard nothing but good things about Bourne, and the producers have a good track record with the first two both action-wise and movie-wise.
And since I seem to have something of a theme to this post already... if you haven't seen Casino Royale (the Daniel Craig version), you should, as it too has excellent action sequences (the first extended action set piece is outstanding), and in my opinion is stronger movie-wise than any Brosnan or Dalton Bond movie. (Alas, I don't have enough knowledge of Connery Bond films to compare adequately.)

Date: 2007-08-17 07:24 pm (UTC)I saw the most recent Harry Potter movie recently -- it was OK, a bit like watching the Cliff's notes version of the book.
