Here's a haunting video that [livejournal.com profile] bassfingers made after photographing an abandoned industrial building. I saw this right before going to bed last night. Delightful!

Another video has the cast of Spongebob Squarepants using their voices inappropriately (but still SFW (wow, you can watch videos at work? Must be nice.)).

Well, the first one was interesting, had seen it from JWZ earlier, but the second one was fresh. I'm surprised they're allowed to do that, but glad they could. It was entertaining.... Thanks for sharing them.

I think Nickelodeon would be hard-pressed to take action against them, unless the actors' contracts stipulate that the actors can never talk like their SBSP characters in any context outside of SBSP. (Where "talking like their characters" and "making explicit reference to their characters" are different.)

This kind of was an issue when they decided to make those CGI Garfield movies. What do you do when the voice is just like the person's regular speaking voice, as it was with Lorenzo Music and Garfield, which was also the same voice he used for all his characters (Tummi Gummi, Peter Venkman on the Real Ghost Busters, etc.) Much of the time it's tough to argue a voice is unique enough that it can't be used anywhere else; even some the SpongeBob voices have been heard on other cartoons.

Oh, their solution with the Garfield movies was to have Bill Murray do a voice not quite like his own voice, so that it would be more closely associated with Garfield himself than the guy behind the scenes. Bill may have even had a stipulation barring him from doing any other voices for some time period.
