According to my mom's doctor, the reason that she got a painful rash of some sort on her back while in Florida recently was because of poor national border security.

Both parents (and therefore probably both my brothers and my sister-in-law) are quaking in their boots about Obama. They don't know exactly what to make of any of it, but they're positive that it will all somehow result in nationwide race riots.

I tried looking up [rash "national border security"] in google and out of 8 hits one of them was this very own LJ entry. The other entries use the word 'rash' as in 'a rash of violence broke out.

Which is impressive because this entry is only like 15 minutes old and its already coming up on a Google search. Google must have their Googly-eyes on you.

The thing is, the belief that national race riots are likely makes them more likely. Beh.

I'm thinking of nationwide kittens and ice cream.

As somebody who just sat down with a bowl of strawberries and ice cream: blech!

(OK, so I knew what you meant and I'm kidding. Still had to be said. ;-)

Also: do you think that's really possible? Is there actual higher-than-normal racial tension going on because of the presidential election? I've been under the impression that all the curent bruhaha has been centered on the candidate's views on American race relations, and not any transformations in the relations themselves.

No, I don't think it's really possible. I think race relations will be strained by racist campaign tactics against Obama, but not intolerably. I was mostly thinking in terms of violence against the candidate, which would substantially affect relations for the worse.

The rash is from what they're putting in the water down there. But pretend you don't know.

And don't worry about the black helicopters, it's the sky blue ones that are more hazardous to them. But shhhhhh, don't tell them.

;)
