that was a stolen meaning too, stolen by people who resented attempts to confront various oppressions. its first meaning was a positive one.

Rule of thumb: in contemporary usage, "politically correct" actually means "correct." As in, "Well, it wouldn't be politically correct to do X" means that, in fact, only an asshole would even think of doing X.
