So I picked up a copy of "Citadels" at Games People Play today -- Games People Play, the Costington's of game shops -- and was pleased and surprised to find that the latest English-language printing of the game now includes the beautiful little mother-of-pearl-y counters that the German edition has always had, and not those disappointing cardboard ones. Cool!

This is the first time I've really felt let down by dKos. Calling the elections a failure and a sham this early, before we have even an inkling of the results, smacks of knee-jerking. The logic seems to be that, since Bush & the neos started this chain of events, it's obviously supported by greed and lies and can result only in tragedy. I say: look, if that's the case, you'll have plenty of opportunity to show how it's true once the evidence surfaces, much as one can do with, uh, most of what the president and his friends have done. But please don't jump on this one on de facto reasoning, not after so many have surprised us (and you are surprised, aren't you?) with such courage under such strife.

Take a break. Watch what happens.

I got ticketed finally. There's no excuse for this, especially since I went to the trouble of digging out after the blizzard (but before the lighter snowstorm). So I moved the car today, before I could collect any more tickets; actually I drove to a house near Diesel, where I type this now. I'm of half a mind to leave it there, since it's probably as close to my house as any other cleared-out spot I might find, but whatev.

Damn this economy... I figure that the money I've been earning in money market interest, since I started actually doing that, is just enough to cover my annual parking-violation expenses. But, at least the APY on my bank account has been ticking upwards again; it's back up to a whopping 2 percent. shrug

Hating on-street parking reminds me that this year I'm gonna start seriously lookin to buy me some proppity, inspired by several of my friends all doing this at the same time during this winter.

I dunno what I'm doing yet; my parents encourage me to get a condo, and at least one friend is asking me to consider a residential partnership of some variety. Parents want to see me become landed so much that they have offered to pay half of any reasonable down payment. I'm not sure I'd actually accept it -- they have enough financial concerns without shoveling cash at me -- but: noted.

I can't dawdle too long, though; my apt lease is up in June, and Ms. V will want to know what I'm doing by early May, so I should really know what I'm doing by the end of April. That's three months, yo. Yike

I don't think I've been into a TV show this much since "Twin Peaks", for real.
